Yes finally after months and months of planning of when we would give another shot at going to martins corner after one fail try last time see (this) for my earlier experience at martins corner we made it there yesterday though many of us had planned to come but only two of us Sarvesh and myself could make it there but that was not reason enough for us to cancel plans so we did make it there.

We got in sat on a table close to the entrance as that was the only place remaining which was for two people rest of all the tables left were for 4 or more we noticed around a bit saw the atmosphere it was good quite homely with many families there small kids running around the wooden shack theme for the place is also good even though after sitting down we were left without a waiter and a menu for around 20 mins that was the only complaint for the night rest of it was smooth sailing and the food was simply delicious and tasted a lot like home cooked food.

After we got the menu we placed our order for drinks I had Sweet Fresh Lime Soda and sarvesh had Lemon Iced Tea. Sarvesh wanted to have a budweiser but I reminded him that he was driving and I dont like the person who is driving the car that am in to drink :) so in order not to tease him even I didn’t order a beer for starters we ordered Mussels rawa fried and calamari masala fried the starters were served quite fast then we placed our main course order shark ambotik with rice and kingfish butter garlic fried and it was good that we ordered and decided to share as the quantity for the rice was too much and I would never have been able to finish it all by myself even two of us eating could not finish it :)
I guess it was because both of us had good starters and drinks too and just before leaving the office I had 3 samosas.

At the time we were having food got a call from hemant who is down in goa that he is dropping in the office so told him will be back in the office by 4:30 so we had our lunch talked about stuff and then headed off back to panjim where I was to be in the office and sarvesh had to go home rest and study for his interview next week. So Met Hemant in the office chatted for a while then he left and I got back to my office work.

It was a fun outing and Sarvesh has decided that his birthday bash which is coming up now will be in martins corner WOW cant wait to get there again and that time there will be more people with us plus we still have that go karting outing which was planned months ago but never happened and not to forget we will again meet all of us for a friends wedding in december. looks like next two months we have lots of activities planned and outings well am looking forward to all of them and loads of quality friends time away from work :)

Note to myself: Buy a Good Digital Camera so that the Pholog can be updated :( with photos of my adventures well the startup mode makes you a poor poor man living on bare minimums but I have to save some money to buy a digital camera soon.

Yes thats right and I (fritz dsouza) am making that statement and will come as a shocker to all who know me hahahaha.

Today was a funday as usual was in my office getting some flow charts done as there was no electricity so was not on my laptop and the TV was also off. So at that point of time got a call from sarvesh saying that he is outside the office so I opened the door for him he came in we sat and talked for a few minutes then he said this office is not healthy we need to get out so we went to CCD miramar we sat there discussed a lot of things work, friends etc etc the normal chit chat and after that I ordered our drinks and we sat there talked a bit till and sipped our drinks and then the bill came and thats when the fun begin I forgot to carry cash since my mind was still preoccupied with the analytics issue that i am currently working for on a project and I thought sarvesh would pick up the tab hahahaha and he realized that even he forgot to carry cash hahahahaha at that point of time I was about to crack up laughing as I found the situation funny but sarvesh was pissed with the fact that they would not accept credit cards :(

The credit card issue was raised earlier also at CCD miramar by abhimanyu during one of our meetings there and the situation that we were in was the first time in last couple of weeks that i found really genuinely funny and relaxing and I knew that fonda was on the beach so called him to come there with cash and then he said he was not on miramar beach but at baga beach hahahahahaha and I was totally enjoying the situation so I just waited there till sarvesh went to a nearby SBI atm and got the cash and then we moved from there to the beach walked a bit talked more and then sat at dsilva’s since sarvesh wanted to have fish and we waited there for quite a few mins in fact (close to an hr and half but the fish cutlets never got ready so he settled for a chicken roll ) and then we ran into a couple of old college friends exchanged a few pleasantries and well we were back to our discussions we didnt know that it was that long that we were at dsilva’s as we were totally busy talking about our wednesday plans to either go to brittos or martins corner for some good food and relaxing time.

Well after the chicken roll i got back to office and sarvesh headed back home to prepare for his interview well the day was fun because of one simple incident and that was of not having money at CCD I still find it nice and funny and it gets a smile on my face. I remembered a similar situation when we had gone on a mini adventure at ooty and ran out of cash and had to do a lot of running around ( I mean walking around in scenic otty hahahaha) to find an atm for withdrawing some cash we finally found one you should have heard some of our backup plans hahahahahaha.

Most of the time the pressures are about money but sometimes not having any can be a funny situation and totally relax your mind. Now am looking forward to another adventure on wednesday but then we will not be dependent on an atm and will carry some cash this time hahahahahaha. I had fun today catching up with whats happening in our friends circle and our work lives and also about personal lives, new crushes etc etc but the icing on the cake was the CCD incident hahahahaha

So cheers to a great fun outing with no beers :P

  • fritz Says -> a perfect little car for me atleast one of the many out there for me

Yep a car like (this) would be perfect for me down here in Goa even though there are bit of concerns about it just going 125 miles on a charge that is roughly 200 km well for a small place like Goa it would be perfect for me to get around the only thing that will have to change is the color though Wink as it has to have some sort of shade of blue but even this is color is cool enough for a guy whose name is D’souza Fritz D’souza

Oh if it can come with all the necessary cool gadgets and must haves like a missile launcher, a GPS tracking unit, a beer chiller,a nice music system, a TV with a satellite dish ya ya this is a lot to ask even without this gadgets the car is good to look at and also a technological marvel in a way I guess so a must have anyway once it hits the market and you don’t have to move around a lot on one charge for your vehicle I guess this vehicles would pick up and go mainstream if they could be recharged fast like even if it goes 200 km but if you could recharge the vehicle in say 5 minutes for another 200 km that would be perfect as then instead of gas stations you will see electric charging stations within the radius of 200 km.

Well this one is by Subaru and Nissan is also coming out with one but I wonder if there is any indian company other then Reva working on something like this as tata’s are too busy working on their 1 lakh Rs wonder car which I am very very anxious too see.

(image is linked from cnet site see the above linked article for more details about the car)

Well it is my birthday and am 25 today
today made me think about a lot of things
all of them are listed below

    1)What if I live till i am 50?
That means I have already lived half my lifetime (scary thought ain’t it)

2)What have I done so far?
well nothing that I wanted to do have not seen most of the places in the world, not been to disney land, not gone skiing or see snow or learn swimming(I have to get myself enrolled for the swimming classes),not started my own band (yep always wanted to start my own band),not tasted most of the cuisines in the world (yes am a foodie and a total sucker for pickles)

    3)Where is my life headed?
this is a scary thought as have recently resigned the comfort of a paid job (to turn entrepreneur) well the job was going as far as I could push the company and it looks like I am the only one pushing a heavy load up a hill and was one of the main reasons for me to take the gamble with me and have a start the way I want it with my own startup.

    4)What do I do now?
well my first priority is get my ventures on track and second is do some of the things that are there on my to do list. second thing is push myself more to meet the targets set by me.

5)What have I accumulated in the last 25 years?
well a good family, great friends don’t have any enemies(none yet if you are one leave me a comment and will get back to you to sort things out between us hahahaha),well I have a younger brother even though he is a bit too relaxed but has a good creative mind (I have to push him to achieve great things),a good education(yes I had great education I loved science from a young age and ended up graduating in a branch of science If I had not stopped I would have gone all the way to a Phd yep I would have been Dr Fritz D’souza ),have found a true calling in the tech world and really love my work and am looking forward to working with a bunch of people who are as excited as me about technology and am happy have found some of them to join me on my new venture.

6)Well what do I have to accumulate in the next 25 years?
A good person to share my old age with yep someone smart, funny, caring, passion for travel and passion for food(when I will start the hunt for that person I don’t know). Accumulate decent amount of worldly wealth (the normal stuff every hard working person wants a yacht, private jet, private island etc etc),See my younger brother reach great heights in the creative field (I would be the happiest person in the world when he says my name at the oscars during the acceptance speech well he has the potential but have to do something about his temper and attention span),well for quite sometime now my mom has been looking forward to seeing Las Vegas,Jerusalem, Florida and Rome have to send her to this places she too has a great passion for travel and I guess I have got that from her and the passion for food and technology from Dad.

Well most of the things are achievable with a bit of good luck and lot of hard work I should be there.

  • fritz Says -> monsoons the joys and sorrows

Well monsoon implies heavy rains, thunder, lightning and gusty winds for a normal Goan but for a person visiting panjim during monsoonsit also brings flooded roads (thanks to iffi for that)

Lets start with the joysSmile the monsoons gets
there is a whole lot of greenery at this time of the year the trees are alive all over again, the fields are ploughed and you see the farmers in their green and blue raincoats (the one piece plastic piece which they use as raincoats)
the other joy that monsoons get is the romantic feel to everything (I don’t know if it is for everyone or just me) but you start missing people special people when you are in your office looking outside at the pouring rains.
cravings for fried pakodas and bhajias and snacks most of the time.

Now with the sorrowsCry the monsoons gets
If you are like me the wash clothes at home type then boy this is a bad bad season as you have to virtually have a gym session with the clothes to squeeze them to drain the water out from them so that they dry in this season outside when the hot and bright sun which is much needed to dry the clothes is rarely seen during this times.
The constant power cuts is another pain of this season as soon as the rains start pouring heavily the lights go out and it is so damn irritating.
falling sick yes you get wet in the rains and then you start sneezing and one thing leads to another and then you are at home with fever (this season I hope I am not bitten by the fever bug).
The pain of immobility you are always stranded and meetings have to be canceled and no fun outings like just walking on the road looking at people and going to the market to see how people are interacting with one another.

Yesterday when I went for a haircut it started raining when I was done at the barber shop so I decided since it was heavy rain decided to walk back home and get wet it was fun half way home I realised I had a cellphone to worry about hahahahaLaughing so I increased my pace and went home kept the cell and cash in the house and came back out and got more wet it was nice just standing in the rains just appreciating the water falling on you and not thinking about anything else so after the rains stopped went in had a shower then washed clothes.

So far it has been good sneezed only twice Smile

  • fritz Says -> rich men’s dilemma not mine (yet)

Yesterday was watching the program Europe’s Richest on The TV channel Discovery Travel and living it is a fine fine show it shows how the rich splurge their hard earned money to up their status in society and indulge in boy toys with price tags that can blow the mind of an average Joe.

One of the person shown on the show was someone by the name of west apparently this guy has made his fortune in UK selling cheap liquor (this is naturally a good business as there are many consumers of liquor out there including me) what he said was now I am not going to take this to my grave now so I am spending it all to make myself feel good now this is the dilemma every rich old guy has you spend a lifetime making a fortune and then you have no time to enjoy the fortune that you have have made. but the splurges of this rich and famous are mostly in the form of cars, real estates, private jets , yachts and recently the trends like space travel etc but few of them invest in some ventures like buying golf course for their personal use and also open and this also keeps on adding to their wealth (hahahahaha).

Well this shows are very depressing for me as they make me realize that there a lot that I have to do in a short span of time if I want to realize all my splurges too some of my personal splurges will be

    • go karting track
    • a private island
    • diamond collection
    • house on every continent (yes I have a liking for owning real estate as I have been a nomad all my life and am still one)
    • a private jet
    • a luxury yacht
    • sports car with eagle doors any brand as long as they have eagle doors
    • a personal club ( not fitness but dance)
    • a hummer vehicle
    • jet ski’s
    • a ski lodge

Well thats about all people call me a dreamer or a idiot thinking I can do all this working out of Goa but I say a smart person is smart whether he is in goa or on the wall street if you have the drive and the capability a person can achieve whatever he sets his sight on. well from the above I have to get a diamond ring and a island by December 2008 for someone (you know who you are) well diamond ring I can get now but the island I have to work super duper hard for well I think it can be done so for me to get some of the above have to get to work more and blog less (hahahahahaha) all work and no play makes fritz a rich boy(hahahaha).

  • fritz Says -> some movies that I caught recently

Some of the movies that I caught recently at inox goa are

    • Ghost Rider- Well it was an ok movie but I was never that crazy about seeing Nicholas Cage in a super hero as i always believed he was not super hero material but the movie was ok the special effects was good and the story was also ok
    • TMNT- This movie I had been waiting for quite some time but the movie was a big disappointment the story was horrible and the graphics were good but wat was lacking was good action the one that you normally associate with the Ninja Turtles
    • 300- Wow this was the best movie that I have seen this year so far. why you ask? well it was something totally new info never knew anything about this aspect of greek history and the action was damn good well choreographed and for anyone who likes a good fight like me this was a good movie it had all action, humour, love, betrayal, passion etc  this movie is definite one for my dvd collection (some people I know well not some people only abhimanyu hahahahhahaha have seen this movie like 6 times and all the 6 times in a theater)but overall a must watch movie for someone who likes a well made entertaining movie.
    • spiderman 3 - this was another disappointment as in with so many super human creatures on screen it was still not good enough to deliver on the thrills but even the story was not that good to keep ur mind from wandering from the theater and onto your office work but overall I would say an ok movie and the black spidey suit lived up to its hype of being the coolest spidey costume ever

Some movies that I look forward to now is Pirates of the Caribbean At World’s End (which abhimanyu is promoting for so many days now with the title and india launch date along with imdb ratings as his status message in gtalk )the only reason I am excited about this is keira and pirates, sword fights ,pearls, loot, treasure, islands, old ships etc what is not too love about this movie franchise  also after watching the small preview on TV yesterday and the announcement on it that Keira has what any girl in a pirate based movie wants her own sword fight (solo one that is) now this has got me so excited I cant wait to see the damn movie. Yesterday night I was just discussing with a friend how I wish I had a private jet so I could go for movie premieres to the US and come back later I guess I am not working hard enough to realise my dreams I should put in more effort now (none of my friends also have their own jets otherwise I could have borrowed so i guess I have to push them more).

The other movie I cant wait to see is shrek 3 yes yes the favorite green ogre is back with his princess this summer and boy did they rock the opening weekend I cant remember where I heard this but they said raked in 120 million in the opening weekend itself now that is a huge huge wowie I wish all the movies would have their world wide premieres on the same day as the US but I guess till that happens or till I get my private jet I have to wait and wait and wait for inox goa to get the movies to goa.

The only reason I didn’t write a full fledged review for the above movies is since I have no time this days flooded with work from next movie onwards will make it a proper full review and I think I missed a few movies also which I cant recollect which I saw recently since i cant recollect means they were not worth remembering anyways (hahahahaha).

Update: abhimanyu has seen 300 only 4 times and not 6 times as initially quoted by me sorry for the inconvenience caused by this wrong information to all my esteemed readers (nah whom am I kidding i just have like 2 readers hahahahahahahha)

  • fritz Says -> Why All The Spam?
    3:43 pm on July 18, 2006 | 0 Permalink | Reply
    Tags: ,

Most of my friends when they meet me they ask why they get spam in their inbox and what is the reason for spammers to send email?

I keep on telling them no matter what you do you will still keep on getting spam and to never trust and think that your mail service providers spam filtering is foolproof and that everything that goes to spam folder is spam but there is no harm in checking the mails that go there because once in a while a legitimate mail does go to the spam folder. I have had this experience once with my gmail account i got complacent thinking that only spam goes to spam folder untill a newsletter that i subscribe to went to the spam folder from that day onwards i check my spam folder after I check all my pending mails.

Since spam is there and will always be there there are certain steps you can take to minimize the amount of spam that you get like never give out your personal email id to chat buddies from yahoo and msn or other chat program that you use. use the same ID for mail from your chat buddies since all the major portals which offer online chat like msn, yahoo etc also offer email accounts with the same ID. keep one address only for your family and friends.

Use your chat email id for posting on forums etc so that spam bots navigating the wild wild web wont get your personal email ID for spamming. other advice I give is never have a plain vanila type email ID for eg john@something.com or ravi@somewhere.com try creating your personal mail accounts with ids like john_23@something.com or ravi_23_6@somewhere.com this is the best way to get around brute force spammers you just come up with possible ids and send mails if they know that domain something.com is there so there will be an account on it with the name john. my friends ask me then how come you have an plain vanila type ID fritzd I tell them it is because I have found gmail spam filtering effective and have no much complaints so far so now most of my friends have shifted onto gmail accounts and guess who gives them invitations when they want to join.

Since spam is there and will always be there all we can do is find ways to be smart and avoid getting a bulk of it. hope this tips help u somewhat to fight spam.

And one last tip always try out as many of free email providers as possible there is no harm in learning and having a larger online presence in cyber space because am sure you dont want to miss out being a part of the next big thing on the net.
