fritz Says -> sarvesh birthday treat at martins corner
Sarvesh’s birthday is on the 23rd of November.
so he had said that this year the treat will be at martins corner and must say he did keep his promise he left pune on 22nd reached goa 23rd morning and after that in the afternoon we met and went for a nice fish curry rice at city pride.
on the next day there were two more people touching down in goa satya and abhimanyu
so over the lunch we had our normal chit chat discussing about usual stuff our lives, technology,friends, good eating out places for fish etc etc
so after the lunch sarvesh headed home to get some much needed sleep since he was sleep deprived because of traveling the previous night.
I got back to my work in the office and then next day we were all suppose to go to martins corner sarvesh,fonda,satya,abhimanyu and me.Fast forward to next day I get a call from satya saying his bus is slow and that he has still not reached goa and that he might reach goa a bit late and will then inform us about his lunch plans. I have a early meeting next day i wind it up by 1 and am back to the office sarvesh comes to pick us up at the office and then we head off and we have not heard from satya yet who was suppose to reach goa that very morning so we call him up he says bus was delayed and he has just reached home and that he wont be able to make it for the lunch and that he will meet us in the evening.
So on the way we have to pick up abhimanyu and saurabh both of whom are down to goa to collect their transcripts from the college since they are both headed to the US for higher studies they recently answered the GRE and scored pretty well on it so we pick them up from their college at PCCE and there is all sorts of confusion at this point will the kitchen be closed at martins corner and what will be our back up plan etc etc etc and all this time am cool because I know the kitchen wont be closed
Finally after a long drive and missing quite a few accidents on the way yes sarvesh was driving and even though he was not drunk he still tends to be a hopeless driver hahahaha
finally we are at martins corner it is a bit quite and less people are there because we are a bit too late for lunch but well we place our order
we had martins special mocktail since everyone was ordering those even i decided to go with that instead of my usual order for some refreshing beer. then we had some starters fried mussels, french fries, squid calamari and then we moved onto main course most of them ordered chicken pepper steak and I ordered myself some nice roast tongue (must admit I left 2 small pieces of it though as I was full with the mocktail and the starters) and over the lunch our conversation was mostly about tech since we were all techies there and am sure all this talk must have bored my bro hahahaha.After we finished lunch we just lazied around a bit sitting there then we decided to take the long drive back to panaji on the way we just filled petrol and then got in touch with satya and told him to meet us at CCD miramar so on the way there we dropped fonda back to office and then we headed to CCD to lazy around some more
there also we talked about many things like google , interesting opportunities in video startups etc etc and then finally satya showed up and then we had a good time pulling his leg because of his recent US trip then we talked about work there and here how it is different etc etc and then finally we all decided to head our separate ways but before that sarvesh had to pick up some cashew nuts for his office colleagues since he was leaving for pune the next day and he wanted to pick up some stuff from the dollar store too and he was not the only one who picked up stuff from dollar store even i picked up a can opener needed one for the office pantry and abhimanyu picked up some stuff too am sure he could not help it as he is a real shopaholic ( yes he is sick and needs help he spends a hell of a lot of money on shopping so all of us should start praying for him to get well soon )After that shopping spree it was time to call it quits for the day and I headed back to the office to get some work done and some surfing done
well about martins corner I don’t think we will be heading there in the near future since we need to find another place to check out but the food and the rates there are both good but till we go there again am still trying to figure out another place to sample when all of us meet again in december maybe it will be chef fernandos

Viewer Voices: Where We Respond To The Opinions Of Our Uninformed ViewersThis is a very funny video that I came across during my normal daily dose of blog reading. This is very enlightening video it goes to show that in the so called user generated web 2.0 world there is sometimes too much of content for you to go through even for big sites (not like this blog) there are so many comments and moderating those must be pain and not to forget track backs and other similar technologies are not the effective.
But the biggest problem is still with the feedback channel that you provide to the users feedback as shown in the Video and there are a few of opportunities for innovative startups in the Feedback channel, Comments channel and tracking user activity there are few of them but there is always room for more innovation in this field
Couple of days back I had asked one of a regular readers of this blog(aka abhimanyu) why he does not comment on the posts he said because he does not feel like it well there are people like this and then there are people who write comments so the opportunity is there but I guess not on my blog
where the comment activity is non existent. -
fritz Says -> why I think cricket matches are fixed nowadays
This is just my opinion and might not hold any truth but this is what I feel about the cricket matches that are taking place these days.
well the number 1 reason being that there is a whole lot of money flowing into the sport which is a good thing but is the money that is flowing in actually having a impact on the outcome of the game is what I want to know? A simple example the recently concluded Twenty twenty world cup which India won but was india suppose to be in the final, can australia the world champions in cricket lose a match from a position that they are sure to win the match. Was the india - pakistan final just so that that the advertisers (mostly indian companies ) had their target audience watching the match.
Here is a scenario the main sponsor of the tournament is Reliance mobile a company which has presence only in India (so far) so would a final of Australia and New Zealand be of any real benefit to them I don’t think so. And not to forget the ad slots prizes went up so the TV channels piled in all the cash from the sale of the ad inventory for the finals which was a India- Pakistan final something which most advertisers in India would definitely give their arm and leg for.
Here are some interesting figures apparently India’s early exit from the world cup costs advertisers close to 600 crores (wow thats a lot of money) when ad campaigns etc had to be pulled of the air and then most of this advertisers decided to move their interest to something else which is less risky like the use of film stars rather then cricketers for endorsing their products And some of the advertisers were considering never to look at cricket tournaments as a platform to reach their targeted audience. BCCI had to do something drastic and This win by india is exactly what they wanted but most of you must be wondering this is perfect timing but according to me it is not the entire event seems fabricated that India reached the final so that the indian television audience would watch the matches.
India defeating England yes the one over from Yuvraj did it for India but comprehending that Australia can lose to India in the semi final from the position that they were in is totally nonsensical to me as they were not Bangladesh or South Africa to choke under pressure but they did throw the match away. I have not seen Ricky Ponting happy sometimes even when he has won the match but he was happy to lose to India. If you see the video footage you see him smiling.
After all BCCI is the richest cricket board in India and if they were exiting tournaments early it would impact the ICC more then BCCI as some of the major tournaments for ICC seem to have indian sponsors the simple fact being the booming economy and loads of cash for companies to promote themselves so the ICC will be at the mercy of BCCI for money.
The lots of money flowing in is good for the game but if the match outcome is influenced by this money then I think it is really sad for everyone who enjoys watching a good old contest between the bat, ball and human spirit. Well with India winning the T20 world cup the advertisers are all upbeat about cricket again and even some of the ads from that 600 crore world cup debacle of India are making their way back onto the TV screens.
If you think this post is crap then this simple questions will clear your mind
Would you as a Indian charged with emotion watch the final if India was not playing in it? and would you see the many reliance mobile ads that were shown?? If you still have doubts why do all the teams in the tournaments that India is playing in the deciding match is always the last match of the series?? (see India’s England tour before the T20 after the initial drubbing at the hands of the English suddenly India rise and win then for the last match of the series it is do or die situation if India had lost the series before the final match then hardly the last few matches would have drawn any serious viewership) I think the only countries that are playing to their potential is countries like Bangladesh,Zimbabwe etc -

This is a really cool service it is a small startup in Israel with this service you can add comments on top of the video from video sharing sites like youtube, metacafe etc ( a few of which are supported more details can be found on their site)
http://www.bubbleply.comEven though they are showcasing this as a software to add speech bubbles to videos it is basically a video remixing site with a twist. this video could not be embedded on my blog so the script had to be hacked a bit to get it working. This guys should see to it that the video player that they provide is easily customizable for the end user who will be embedding it in their blogs or web pages.
The other purpose that can be served by this is for actually remixing old charlie chaplin type movies with peoples imagination playing the part in providing is comic book like commentary to the happenings on screen.
anyway thought this is really cool and wanted to share it with you’ll.
